We have a fantastic late release of the 2013 Château de Pommard Pommard 'Grand Vin', the estate’s flagship blend from the walled Clos Marey-Monge monopole, a 20-hectare vineyard whose mix of clay and limestone parcels delivers both power and energy. The cool, late 2013 season with hail-reduced yields delivered a more classical style, emphasizing purity, fine tannin, and bright acidity over sheer weight. Hand harvesting, gentle extraction, and aging in French oak were used to frame, not mask, the fruit. After 13 years, this is brilliant and just starting to enter a prime window for dinking. In the glass, it shows red cherry and cranberry, rose and savory spice, with an iron-tinged, earthy-mineral finish that is distinctly Pommard. Showing great now, it will continue to improve over the next decade. This is a rare, perfectly aged red Burgundy monopole that offers serious terroir expression at a price among the best we have seen in the category for this level of age. With the discount, it's one of the best deals on the market for Village burgundy with this much age coming directly from the Domaine in perfect condition!

John Gilman 94 points! "The approximate blend of the 2013 is outstanding and this is clearly going to be a great bottle in the making, as the wine jumps from the glass in a deep and very pure constellation of cherries, red plums, beautiful spice tones, a touch of cocoa, crystalline minerality and a deft framing of cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, tangy and very refined this year, with a fine core, suave tannins and a long, tangy and very energetic finish. Great juice in the making!"
