2018 Stéphane Ogier Syrah La Rosine Eta Late March 2026

2018 Stéphane Ogier Syrah La Rosine Eta Late March 2026

La Rosine from Ogier is an incredible value from Stéphane Ogier that drinks like a mini Côte-Rotie, and we have closeout pricing today, making it an even better deal! Stéphane Ogier is one of the producers who shows the progression of the Northern Rhone. His wines are detailed, precise, and refined, yet have a definite sense of place. The dance between the fresh, juicy, pure fruit and the savory, mineral, and structured is what makes these wines sing. La Rosine does this flawlessly for a wine at this level, and while not as serious as the Crus, this is a gorgeous bottle that shows Stephane Ogier's skill at all levels. This cuvee comes from the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP, specifically just above the lieu-dit Bassenon in Côte-Rôtie. The vines here are between 20 and 30 years old and planted on Syrah-favored granite soils. The Grapes are hand-harvested, sorted twice, and about 80% destemmed. Fermentation is completed with natural yeasts in stainless steel tanks before aging in used French oak barrels for 12 months. Beautiful fruit, a great sense of place, with excellent energy and simply delicious character, this is an outstanding buy at this closeout pricing and comes highly recommended!

Decanter (Matt Walls) 92 pts! Labelled as IGP Collines Rhodaniennes, this 100% Syrah is from a vineyard just above lieu-dit Bassenon in Côte-Rôtie. 20% whole bunch was used, and it’s showing soft, squished berry fruits alongside vibrant acidity. There's a gently resinous seam that brings complexity and a distinctly northern Rhône feel. Succulent tannins make this expressive and enjoyable, with enough weight to work well with food. 2018 was a particularly ripe and plush vintage for this cuvée. (Drink between 2021 - 2023)
