2023 Hubert Lignier Bourgogne Pinot Noir Plan Gilbert
We have a bit of the 2023 Hubert Lignier Bourgogne Pinot Noir “Plan Gilbert” arriving soon, which comes from a single parcel in Chambolle-Musigny planted in 1962, 1964, and 1982, making it a serious, age-worthy Bourgogne Rouge that reflects the estate’s classic style. Domaine Hubert Lignier is a historic Morey-Saint-Denis address dating to the late 1800s; today, Hubert and Laurent Lignier farm about 11 hectares across Morey, Gevrey, and Chambolle with sustainable methods, certified organic since 2019, and trialing biodynamics in select plots. In the cellar, they keep intervention low, favoring moderate whole-cluster fermentations and restrained oak so each site speaks clearly. Plan Gilbert is hand-harvested and raised for about a year in mostly used barrels with a small tank component, giving it the structure to develop gracefully over the next several years. Not a sprawling domaine, but the holdings are exceptional, and this cuvée proves it. Hubert Lignier has long been one of our favorite producers; we met him years ago in Burgundy, and we’re glad to see Laurent carrying the torch at this extraordinary estate. This is a great buy for Bourgogne made from Chambolle fruit, so don't miss it!
