2024 Raen Winery Pinot Noir Royal St. Robert
The new vintage of the Royal St Robert from Raen has just been released, and Galloni calls this the finest vintage he has ever tasted. Raen's Pinot Noir Royal St. Robert is the domaine’s signature Sonoma Coast cuvée, dedicated to Carlo and Dante Mondavi’s grandfather, Robert Mondavi, and it captures exactly what the brothers set out to do when they founded RAEN in 2013: world-class, cool-climate Pinot Noir with real site transparency. This bottling is sourced from around 16 hectares of organically and regeneratively farmed coastal Pinot rooted in Goldridge soils and planted to a mix of heritage and Dijon clones (Calera, Swan, 115, 667, 777). The 2024 growing season on the far Sonoma Coast was marked by abundant winter rains (about 140% of average), steady coastal breezes, and a long, patient ripening that delivered both concentration and freshness. The cellar work amplified the vintage with a hands-off approach, adding excellent aromatic complexity through 100% whole-cluster, native fermentation, aging in neutral French oak, and bottling without fining or filtration. At just 13% alcohol, this is classic Pinot Noir, which keeps the wine lifted and energetic while still seriously age-worthy. It's a fantastic vintage of the Royal St. Robert not to be missed, praised by Galloni, and sure to make it to James Suckling's top wines of the year once again. We have a limited amount at this great price arriving next week!
