N.V. Domaine Anne Gros Crémant de Bourgogne La Fun en Bulles Pinot et Chardonnay

N.V. Domaine Anne Gros Crémant de Bourgogne La Fun en Bulles Pinot et Chardonnay

We have offered the La Fun en Bulles from Domaine Anne Gros before, but this is a newer Crémant de Bourgogne cuvee called "Pinot Noir et Chardonnay". This is 60% Pinot Noir-based blend supported by 40% Chardonnay, whereas the "regular" Fun en Bulles also had some Aligoté. La Fun en Bulles Pinot Noir et Chardonnay is a polished, food-friendly sparkling made with Burgundy fruit from one of Vosne-Romanée’s best-known estates. Anne Gros, having taken over her father’s domaine in 1988, has continued under her own name since 1995 and has been producing excellent wines since. Though we don’t know exactly where the fruit is coming from, we have to assume it is declassified, potentially younger, domaine fruit that didn't make it into the Bourgogne Cuvees and was better suited for a sparkling. Made with the traditional champagne method in the glass, La Fun en Bulles shows a lively array of apple, lemon, white flowers, brioche, and chalky mineral notes, with a fine mousse, bright acidity, and enough texture and length to shine not just as an aperitif but alongside lighter dishes as well. We have a limited number at this low price, and it's a great Burgundy sparkler from a top domaine. As the name suggests, it's a fun bottle of bubbles and comes highly recommended!
